How does it all work?

You can contact North Financial by phone or email initially to discuss your requirements and ensure we both make the most of a first meeting.

First meetings are arranged at your convenience with your dedicated adviser who will work with you throughout the process and beyond.

During the initial meeting, the process and charges will be fully explained to you. We also try to be as flexible as we can so if you have a better idea of how to approach things, let us know and we can discuss it when we meet.

North Financial offers commission options where is makes sense for the client and we also offer the option of paying by fee. We will explain the options in more detail to you when we speak.

What will you ask me?

Your IFA will then ask a series of questions about your personal and financial situation as well as any future plans and aspirations. This is not just because we are nosy; we need to be able to ‘put ourselves in your shoes’ to be able to make the best recommendations for you.

This is an important part of the process as small details can often be key.

The goal is to gather enough information to ensure we are able to offer the best and most comprehensive advice possible.

Do you advise on mortgages?

As our existing clients will testify, we work hard to source the best deal available to IFAs – which are not always the same as those on the High Street – for your particular situation, we help you with the application, submit it on your behalf and chase up the progress regularly to get things sorted out as quickly as possible for you. We can even recommend a conveyancer for you too.

Do you advise on insurance?

North Financial is able to advise on all types of regulated insurance products such as life insurance, critical and serious illness insurance, income protection insurance and so on. We can access providers from the whole of the market.

What about wills and inheritance planning?

North Financial is able to provide advice around inheritance tax planning and wills. We work with a number of specialist professionals in this area and can recommend the right person for the client in all cases when specialist assistance is required.

And pension transfers?

North Financial is able to advise on personal pension transfers. We also work with specialist IFAs who can assist when advice relates to more complex occupational pension schemes. In all cases we should be able to work out a solution for you.

I am a nervous investor, how do I know I will not get in over my head?

We are here to help you shape and make financial decisions, not to make them for you. We use independent tools as well as face to face meetings to ensure we fully understand your attitude to risk before making recommendations. If you are not comfortable, we don’t recommend it, but we will support you as much as you like in terms of increasing your understanding and opening up opportunities.
